This Old House: Cape Ann
An 1891, shingle-style house that once served as a summer cottage in past years, needed an overhaul and much tender loving care. A couple from Boston was searching for their next home to be outside of the city and found this property by recommendation of their realtor. The historic charm of the home captivated them, but a re-design of the home was necessary. Design expertise from an architect and interior designer was apparent to take this home that featured a very 1970’s renovation and ineffective spaces to a home with technological advances, displaying historic architectural fine details, and having a fluid layout that embraces functional and timeless design that suits to the homeowner’s family.
SV Design entered the picture analyzing the structure and site, while learning more about the homeowners wants and needs were. This project fell into the heart of SV’s expertise utilizing our architecture, interior design, landscape design, and décor and furnishing services. Our talented team redesigned the property by taking the homeowners’ visions of preserving historical details, adjusting the layout and flow of the home to be more functional, adding modern design elements, and have a minimalistic landscape. SV worked on this project with the This Old House television show and the Silva Brothers Construction crew.
