Timber Ridge Garden

A contemporary New England farmhouse style residence with perennial and vegetable gardens, terraced backyard patio, outdoor hot tub and chicken coop. An arbor and bench were added to create upper level seating and obelisks were added to the garden beds to create vertical interest.

The front lawn of the house is broken up by a group of raised beds for vegetable gardening, and perennial borders

Both bench and arbor can packed flat and were easily assembled. The bench has a removable back and folds flat for storage off-season.

The desired final position of the bench and arbor on the upper terrace is determined.

Stones were used to anchor and level the arbor

The arbor was anchored and the area, once back-filled, was ready for replanting.

The bench was placed on stone pieces to keep it level when the ground gets soft from rain, but we found we love the way it ties back, aesthetically, to the stone wall below.

About two months after installation, planted with Rudbeckia and Scarlet Runner Bean vines.

Solar lights were added to the arbor before the vines started climbing.

This Obelisk will serve as a vertical support for climbing nasturtiums in an annual bed between the front walkways and drive.

Here is the same bed with annuals planted. Climbing nasturtiums have not yet reached up the Obelisk.
