Traditional in Tiburon
Located in the hills of Tiburon with sweeping views of the Golden Gate Bridge to Mt. Tam, this expansive, decade-old Mediterranean estate was ready for a makeover when we were hired for an update. With kids and house-staff bustling, and a new dog too, this project required smart thinking to provide the sophistication the client dreamed of and the livability their lifestyle demanded. Our keys to these challenges were thoughtfully textured walls to add layers and dimension, and mature yet durable fabrics on the furniture so the timeless design would endure.
A willowy landscape mural adorns a bold decorative arch in the entryway. Inspired by the local topography, it provides a welcome feeling once you open the front door. To set a tone of authenticity apropos of the stately nature of the estate and the personality of the clients, a complete lighting make-over was designed to speak of maturity and grace. Faux antique scones, a rough machined chandelier and carefully curated lamps add just the right touch.
To play into the bubbly nature of the children and new puppy, the fun blue velvet sofa and wide green chaise are built to take a beating and still retain the beauty and charm when we first brought them in. Listening mindfully to clients never having worked with a designer prior and moving at a deliberate pace helped the space breath and evolve into a home the landscape itself seems to evoke. Come inside and take a look!
