Traverse City Ugly Kitchen Contest
In 2008, we were commissioned by a group of local designers and craftsmen to assist them with a kitchen remodel. This one was unique in that is was a contest. Applicants were judged based upon the condition of their kitchen and their story. The winner was awarded a full kitchen design and remodel.
Upon selection of the winner, the designer coordinated with us to explain proposed layout, finishes, and fixtures. Based upon this description, we created an image to be used in press releases to show the before and (proposed) after. Attached, you will see our rendering as well as some selected photos of the finished project.
This project was done on a tight budget and even tighter schedule, but we and the client were very pleased with the results. As with any project, changes were made along the way to the smaller details. Overall though, it was remarkably close to our rendering! Projects like these are a great testament to the value of securing project renderings during the design phase. They help contractors understand the project, and they virtually eliminate surprises to the homeowner.
