The individual living functions of this house were assigned a hierarchy within the existing space and converted into a series of flexible overlapping programmed areas. The owners required that a relatively small space be adaptable to host large dinners while also serving more private functions such as office space, play area for the children, and places for pet cats to hide. The work had to be done with an extremely advanced schedule. In order to achieve this, the DOB approval process was augmented by treating all of the individual elements of the space as 'furniture'.
