Traditional underground cellar spaces with vaulted ceilings are relatively common in Victorian, Georgian and other historic buildings. These cellars arguably provide the perfect passive wine cellar environment, where temperatures fluctuate slowly across a narrow range, such as in the cellars of the top domaines in Bordeaux or the Rhone. However, because these spaces are naturally cool and humid, only non-rust, metal wine racks make suitable wine storage for these spaces.
