Walnut Creek Residence

This Craftsman home is located in Walnut Creek, CA and was built in 1947. BALI Construction built and designed the entire project, from layout, to landscaping, outdoor lighting, and the color choices. Before the remodel, this home had 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. A total of 1300 square feet was added. Now the home has 4 bedrooms and 2 ½ bathrooms. As a result of this project, an entirely new curb appeal was created. We chose two shades of dark grey paint with a white trim. The lighter shade of grey was used for the majority of the exterior paint. We used a darker stone grey as accents on the shingles. The windows have detailed trim moldings with grids in the glass. We wrapped the lower part of the home with multi-colored stone bringing together the paint, shingles and door.

The home has traditional as well as modern design to it. You can see the modern design in the bathrooms, kitchen, and clean line of interior trim. In the kitchen, we installed White Oak Cabinets and opened up the walls to create a more open indoor /outdoor living space. For the living room, we chose a Craftsman trim (Grays and bright whites). This trim has modern detail but in the Craftsman style. A custom, modern mantel was also installed with a mirror above it.

A 500 square feet master suite with master bathroom was added. This suite has a 10 feet pitched ceiling. Tongue and groove siding was used to achieve the Craftsman look with modern details. We built a custom barn door made with vertical grain Douglas Fir for the master bathroom. The master bathroom now has a nice size shower and pebble tile stones that give the feeling of walking in water. For the cabinets, we used White Oak with shades of gray to tie everything together in the master bathroom. The new walk-in closet connects to the master bathroom, a highly desirable feature.

The doors leading out to the deck and backyard are 16 feet Bi-Fold style (Nana doors). In the garage, we designed a custom shelving system that is easily accessible and large enough to have storage for the entire house. We chose durable, epoxy coated flooring. The driveway is stamped with a textured diamond pattern in shades of grey, and the garage door is customized in the Craftsman style.
