The renovation of this 1970's mid-century modern home at the watershed of the Potomac River included an overlay of the existing home with subsequent layers of grid work and glass. Parenthesizing space both inside and out, the layers peel away at certain points to define terraces and anterooms to create varying levels of view and privacy. Among an array of awards and publications, this modern renovation project in Glen Echo, Maryland has won the National Award from the American Institute of Architects: Recognition for Small Projects.
