Faced with the challenge of combining two worn-out apartment units into one updated family-friendly home, EF took this renovation by storm. The layout expanded to include a generous entryway, living/dining space, primary bedroom with walk-in closets and ensuite bath, galley kitchen (now more open to the living area), office with en-suite powder room, secondary full bathroom, kids' room and closet, and laundry closet.
The ceilings were lifted, accentuating the structure above. The typical NYC parquet floors were removed, remediated, and replaced with beautiful wide-plank white oak floors from The Hudson Company. A flush reveal base detail traces throughout the spaces, as well as warm walnut-lined niches for extra storage and display. Oversized pocket door openings allow for views into adjacent rooms, allowing more natural light to enter the central area, offering vignettes of colorful papered surfaces beyond.
