Westover Residence

The project began in a fairly typical way: a family with two young children ready to renovate their kitchen. The one point of debate? Cabinet finishes. She envisioned white cabinetry, while he gravitated toward a wood finish—but the couple quickly found common ground in the beautiful Taj Mahal quartzite selected for the countertops.

As shown in the photos below, the renovation evolved into a bright, open-concept kitchen and living space. The scope included removing a wall to connect the rooms, refinishing the hardwood floors, adding recessed lighting, and updating the fireplace with new tile.

With two energetic boys—ages two and four at the start of the project—durability and comfort were key considerations. In both the living room and dining room (not shown), we used FLOR carpet tiles, providing a soft, forgiving surface that put the parents at ease without sacrificing style.

The result is a light-filled, cheerful home that balances beauty with everyday livability—designed to grow right along with the family.
