Westside Duplex, Vancouver

Creating drama, privacy and masking traffic noise in limited space requires utilizing every inch of the garden.

The residence is on a marvelous street of duplexes where all gardens extend to the sidewalk with an existing park to the north. An entry garden with an antique stone piece was selected by the client & incorporated into a fountain as an introduction. A fireplace was the centerpiece of the rear garden.

The client agreed to have one parking space in an existing garage and forfeit another space to incorporate a covered outdoor eating area that extends the garden beyond the garage. Included in the rear garden is a fountain wall that masks traffic noise. The owners often light the fireplace during the winter to make a connection to the outdoor spaces.
