Whisper Rock Adobe

“A 100-year-old brand new home” is how the owners describe this North Scottsdale adobe home designed to embrace the feel of old Arizona. Settled into an upper Sonoran site in North Scottsdale’s Whisper Rock Estates development, the residence embraces a design influenced by the Craftsman movement of the early 1900s, as well as later Southern California rambling ranch homes. Both movements are sympathetically reinterpreted to harmonize with the beauty of Whisper Rocks Estates and the Sonoran desert. The home's striking, Territorial Ranch design emphasizes such natural elements as natural stone which provides a long, horizontal base on which rests the exposed adobe, earth-block structure. Both indigenous materials tie the dwelling to the land, while steel-forged, metal anchors, Mission tile roofing, and heavy timber detailing create solidity for the casual, rustic dwelling.
