White and Warmth

Original elements of the 1920's home were maintained in this kitchen and bathroom renovation. It was important to ensure that the historic fir flooring, leaded french doors, door casings and picture rail were kept as a feature while working integrating a custom kitchen into a compact space. Efficiency was critical in the space planning stages to ensure that the homeowners can cook and entertain in comfort and style.

The homeowners opened up the wall, but wanted to keep the original mouldings of the classic home. We integrated a cherry butcher block top on the peninsula for a touch of warmth and to serve as the perfect large preparation and eating space.

Even though it is a compact space, we were able to fit all the appliances the homeowners desired through careful planning. The beverage fridge is right next to the dining room entrance, perfect for entertaining.

The white painted cabinets are softened by the warmth of the cherry wood butcher block, fir floors and original fir trim. The glass tile adds some charming reflection and keeps the space current and bright.

Handy drawers to the left of the gas range offer great storage, while a le mans corner organizer to the right is perfect for storing pots and pans.

The Faber Cristal HC hood fan is a great low profile look for people who do not want the appliance to be a feature.

When the hood fan pulls out, the light automatically goes on and the fan can be turned on or off.

By placing the microwave under the counter, we were able to hide it from view from the dining and living spaces. A useful drawer underneath is great for all the microwave safe containers.
