Woodbine

This project was incredibly dynamic and challenging, since the client underwent a major remodel from 5,000 sqft to 10,000 and adding a subterranean garage. This meant that roughly half the project was retrofit into existing structure, while the other have was new construction. Throughout the project the client was altering their desires, which ultimately resulted in their dream home. Working directly with the clients on interior design features was another unique aspect, since we typically experience a home of this size being overseen by an interior designer. The homeowner had a very specific vision and obvious skill to be able to deliver a design consistent with her vision. Throughout the home their goal was clean lines and wow factor, with systems that were simple to use and consistent with their high-tech lifestyle. They wanted a multi-room music system which allowed their family of five to enjoy different streaming music sources by user, with up to 6 different streams available from Pandora, Spotify, and others. This is important when you consider the 32 pairs of music speakers in the home, and 8 landscape speakers, pumping out incredibly good quality music. Of course the audio can't be the only star of the show, they needed to be able to enjoy video from any one of six DirecTV boxes, four Apple TV streaming boxes, and three Bluray players. Of the 18 different video displays, the 4K Home Theater is their favorite, boasting a 133" Acoustically transparent screen with a dynamic 7.2 surround sound system filling the room with sound. What automated house would be complete without a centralized lighting system and custom lighting keypads, cleverly placed throughout the home to comply with the directive of clean lines. The custom installed alarm system and intelligently integrated video surveillance system combines with the door intercom to provide safety and security, whether in the home or out. When the doorbell rings a pleasant sound emits from select music speakers, and the in-wall iPad in the kitchen displays the camera image of the visitor. A quick push of the button and the homeowner can converse with the guest, or shoo away a solicitor. Rounding out the automation features of this home are the comfort and convenience options which include, motorized shades, custom electronic locks with keypad entry, electric sliding glass door for the theater room (ala Star Wars), electronic garage door controls, 8 Zones of HVAC Climate Control, and Fireplace control. The goal with the electronic door locks was to allow the client to park in the garage and get into the house without taking a key out of their pocket. Cars these days provide that luxury, why not a home! Overall, the client is delighted to have such simple control over a very complicated home system. With simple whole house scenes the clients can welcome themselves home or simulate their occupancy while away. Or "Wow" guests with a whole house Audio, Video, and Lighting scene called Wow! This house has it all!
