Set among a very secluded and private wooded area, this project expands the existing residence for an amazing family of four. The home was lacking in two main areas; living space and entry space. After carefully analyzing the existing conditions, we determined we could divide the existing two car garage and convert a portion of that space into a new laundry and mud room. We also expanded the front porch for a more pronounced entry. Having cut the existing garage in half, we added a new detached single car garage creating a breezeway between the two structures leading to the rear yard. Through this breezeway, a long stepped deck connects back to the new great room. It also connects all the existing exits from the house on to one large entertaining space. We rotated the great room slightly to open up the views to the wooded area, and to whatever future uses this young professional family has planned.
