Zilker Midcentury Remodel with Extension - in progress

A 1960ies 2 Bedroom Bungalow, typical for this Neighborhood, is getting an airy makeover with a U-shaped extension with floor to ceiling windows and a courtyard, almost doubling it's initial footprint, vaulted ceilings in the old parts of the house and organic finishes that tie mid century vibes with modern aesthetic.

The new kitchen is located in one side of the extension the entire wall opposite the range opening into the new courtyard. The window above the counter folds open to a barcounter - the rangewall continues on the outdoor into a BBQ kitchen .

The dining area sits in the old part of the house - we left the ceiling at its original height to define the transition space between existing and new - color blocked walls define the areas throughout the open living spaces

we vaulted the ceiling in the existing living area for extra height and added skylights. the garden side of the room received one large set of sliding doors opening into the new courtyard connecting to the two new extensions

Indoor - outdoor living - the new courtyard is connecting all living spaces . A retaining wall up into the garden and to the planned pool makes the courtyard feel like a "sunken living room" and doubles as dining seating.
