The perimeter countertop is a honed black granite, the island stone is a white princess quartzite, and the butcher block part of the island is a walnut butcher block top from Grothouse Lumber. Thanks for the question!

I would not recommend using glass from an aesthetic and functional standpoint. Listen to your supplier, they know best when it comes to these things, but ultimately it is your decision if you can live with a natural stone as it wears with use.
