Oversize floor stencil used here to echo the oversize flower pattern used in the adjacent hall. Drawer faces are cut to mimic the openings on the salvaged pantry doors. Counters and backsplash are recycled chalkboards from Ballard High School fit with a stainless edge.

I recently (last week!) had my 36" Bluestar RNB delivered. We opted for a Proline Hood off of Amazon instead of a Bluestar; it was about $700 cheaper and so far is working fantastic. I'm curious, why do you HAVE to use a BS? All hood's are generally the same size.

The 36" RNB is around $6,200. Like almost all pro style hoods, Bluestar's are price fixed throughout the country, so pretty sure unless the owner purchased the range second hand or it was a store model (doubtful considering its color), it most definitely wasn't $3,000.

I had bookmarked or pinned the stencils from a photo of another floor like this. I used Photoshop to cut/distort into a flat shape. Then scaled it up / had it printed at Fed Ex/Kinkos on their plotter and then traced onto YUPO (a plastic like paper) and cut out the stencils. I showed the client how to paint the first couple and then she did the rest! We used the same color as the walls for the stencils - Archival by C2 after the first two coats of Swedish finish had been applied to the floors and then another coat was applied after the stencils to give it the needed protection.

The original kitchen had a massive 1950s-style stove, with the burners in a drawer. The clients weren't able to salvage it, but they still wanted to honor the original kitchen in some way. During demolition, they found a bunch of old newspapers in the cabinets, and framed a few select clippings as wall art.
