Can concrete countertops be white?

Hi there. There is 18" of space above counter to bottom of open shelf. The open shelf section is 12" high, with an interior height of 8.5". The cabinetry overall is 10' tall, including the crown molding. For frame of reference, the vaulted ceiling above is 16' from floor to the ridge beam. While the top shelf inside the cabinet can only be reached with a portable step stool, I think cabinetry that is full-height to the ceiling looks terrific.

I chose Mythic non-toxic paint matched to Benjamin Moore's Mayonnaise for walls, ceiling, cabinetry and trim. It is a wonderfully warm white without gaining too much in the yellow end of the spectrum.

The fan is the Emerson Loft. Good strong power for a residential space with south-facing skylights and a professional range.

I love that you used a white fan. It's beautifully understated and blends well into the environment. We are building a house and I can not find a ceiling fan that I think is "pretty". I love this idea!

Floors are antique reclaimed heart pine from Longleaf Lumber in Cambridge, MA. Finish is matte Bona Kemi Traffic, although for an even healthier non-toxic finish, I now recommend ECOS Organic Wood Varnish (see link below) -- Same beautiful look with none of the off-gassing of traditional finishes.

The microwave is hidden in one of the lower cabinets to the right of the oven.

Thank you, Maryse. I commissioned the custom pendant lights, which were handcrafted by Creations by Carol. They are made of linen. The raw steel frames are wrapped with rustic twine.

The island is 2' thick single slab of concrete, from J. Aaron. The perimeter counter is made from the same reclaimed antique heart pine as the flooring, sourced from Longleaf Lumber in Cambridge MA.

Hi Mally.

The cabinet drawer flush pulls are from Whitechapel Ltd. Handles on the hidden SubZero refrigerators and freezer drawers are the largest 8" size in the Aubrey line from Restoration Hardware. We used extra long screws to secure them as they are not officially specified for appliance use. So far, so good.

Concrete top island is 10' long by 42" wide.
