I don't know the specific name - but it's the only laminate product that I know that mimics the look of Calacatta Marble. Not bad for a laminate!!! And, a whole lot cheaper than the real thing. So......check it out! I saw it at Lowes.

Hi, tanlew72. A set builder installed this kitchen countertop. There is a seam in this edge, as it is a laminate with a square edge, it just is hard to see in this particular image. As mentioned in the post above, we have read about tricks that some people have used to eliminate the seam. Although we're not endorsing any of these fixes, here is a post about a woman who used a unique process to eliminate the brown seam in her countertops, which are the same as used in this photo: http://bit.ly/19B6wSm

How is the 'brown edge' not obvious with this edge style? We really want this edge look with Dolce Macchiato but are concerned about the brown edge. Any advice is appreciated!

Hi, karebear1963. Thanks for reaching out. This is a square edge, and the square edge will show a thin brown seam-this image just isn't "close up" enough to see it. Our IdealEdge™ profiles will eliminate the brown seams, but those do not have the “squared” look shown in this image. Since this is a photo of a Formica kitchen (Yes, those counters are laminate) I'd be willing to bet that they had these shelves fabricated using Formica-brand DecoMetal laminate

As this is a real homeowner's kitchen (versus a staged kitchen for a photo shoot), we don't outfit the kitchen with cabinets, lighting, flooring, etc. We can sometimes track down answers to questions about other products. What looks for all the world like a marble counter is actually a laminate from Formica. Laminates have come a very long way. If you're in the market for new counters, the new laminates are definitely worth a look.
