Thank you Lisa. Will not use barstools on mine, will simply be a 3x4 center island with marble top. Now that I've seen yours it makes me more comfortable with doing something very similar in my kitchen.

it's maple wood with a natural hi-gloss finish -- nothing exotic or pre-ordered. stone is TajMahal and its a quartzite.

yes -- just make sure the barstools have no arms and aren't very wide

fixture is from STONEGATE DESIGNS -- you can check them out online. the fixture comes with the plastic disffuser.

just keep this in mind -- you need at least 3' clearance around an island in the places you intend to walk. if you float it in the middle of the floor and you want to be able to walk all around it you obviously need a bigger space. this island is on casters b/c i had a large enough kitchen to have it in the middle or up against the wall, depending on what i was doing.
