What I like about this is the way that the indoors extends into the outdoors. I love when outdoor elements things ( natural ), gets brought indoors, and indoor things gets brought outdoors.

Does this sound like a reasonable approach? You mentioned that stripping is messy. It isn't a full blown epoxy, just an aqua poxy that is water based. Do you have a recommendation for a good urethane floor wax or other wax? Thank you again for your help!
