Love the lower cabinet color. I would like to use it on an island. - Redoing all my cabinets and plan to use stained medium/ dark maple cabinets on perimeter. Torn if I should paint the island white or use a pop color such as what is shown. Wasn't yo use quartz aria on countertops everywhere. Aria is light with taupe and streaks of black/charcoal and a tiny fleck of light green glass. I have a mixed brown tone fireplace in the den that the kitchen opens up to. It has some brick clay colors in it with shades of brown brick and charcoal brick

. The colour on the lower cabinets is a "Dulux Paint" - Goyder Green. It is a deep blue / green colour that changes as the light in the room change

Hi Brett. I am a huge fan of your work and colour schemes. This house makeover has been a big hit with my family in particular. Just a question on floor colours. I have a bedroom suite in American Cherry veneer...it is by Zuster furniture. Are there any floor types you would avoid/recommend with the cherry timber?

Thank you for the compliments on our work @soniadar7. The only floor colour I would avoid in this room is Cherry as it will become a little overpowering. Zuster makes beautiful furniture and you want it to be the star of the room. You could go dark or light, although I think a lighter floor like natural oak would make the space feel fresher and tone down the orange of the cherry. I would also not use a yellow based timber like pine. Have fun.

Brett

Thank you for your interest in our work @davisk2. The counter top on this kitchen is a man made quartz material in a taupe/grey colour. It definitely has a look similar to metal.

@charenard the counter top is not metal, it is a composite material similar to caesarstone. The grey / taupe / brown toning, does give the impression of a metal finish.

Thank you for your interest in our work @cmtaufatofua The fridges are Fisher & Pakyel. Appliance technology changes quickly, so I am not sure if the exact models are still available.

Lower cabinet color comparison - Hi, you previously noted the lower cabinets "is a "Dulux Paint" - Goyder Green". You also mentioned the wall color is a Benjamin Moore paint color. Could you please give me the Benjamin Moore color comparison of the Dulux Paint color? We can't purchase the Dulux paint her in the USA.. Thank you so much! Absolutely love this kitchen!!

Hi @ddillow9 thank you for your compliments on our work.

The closest match to the Goyder Green is "Benjamin Moore" "Stratton Blue" from there Historic Colour range. It is a beautiful color with a great grey base.

Brett

Thank you for the compliment @cmum , we love to create beautiful spaces that reflect the inhabitants. The stools are Last Minute Stool designed by the amazing Patricia Urquiola and purchased through HUB furniture (definitely one of my favourite suppliers)

What Houzz contributors are saying:

Kate McKee added this to Houzz Tour: Historic Home Connects With Its Past
Color is a defining feature of the home, with strong hues displayed throughout. The deep green tone that flows into the large kitchen and living area allows what could have been a cavernous room to feel cozy and directs attention to the yard outside. “It also allows the large kitchen to sit quietly within the shared space,” Mickan says. “By continuing the wooden floorboards throughout, we have created a flow to the new floor plan.”The large family kitchen is the hub of the home. “It works just as well for two people as it does for 50,” Mickan says. “The high ceilings and ability to open up to the garden make it a place hard to leave.”Pendant lamps: Leran, Ikea; stool: Last Minute, Hub

Bravery Level 5: Paint the Cabinets Perhaps the boldest change you can make to your kitchen cabinets is to paint them. While the process can be time consuming, the results can be striking and take your kitchen to a new level. Whether your cabinets are wood or laminate, you can find the right type of paint in a wide range of colors. My biggest tip is that no matter how impatient you are and how promising the paint is supposed to be, don’t skip on the preparation phase, which is even more important for frequently used cabinets than for occasional pieces. Thorough sanding and priming are essential for a smooth and long-lasting finish. How to Paint Kitchen Cabinets
Erin Carlyle added this to Seeing Green: Some Kitchens Ditch White for Mother Nature’s Neutral
How about green-on-green? Do you a prefer a kitchen like this, where a muted shade of forest green on the wall is paired with a green that veers toward blue on the kitchen island?
Habitat by Resene added this to Botanical Green, Meant to Be Seen
Green looks great in a related color scheme (with colors that sit near it on the color wheel). This dusty green is superb color-blocked with a delicious green-blue. Again, notice how plenty of white and stainless steel accents keep the scheme fresh and light.
