I'm sorry but I don't know what the base wood is. I believe it is a blue stain. I do not have a record of what the cabinet maker used.

This came from a local hardware store. They left it sitting outside for a while so it rusted a bit and then clear coated before installing.

Top and undercoat colors. There are generally two colors of paint in distressing: the top and undercoats. In this country kitchen, the blue topcoat of these cabinets was lightly sanded to reveal a lighter golden toned undercoat beneath it. Notice how well it matches the countertop. The chicken wire in the doors is a nice touch.

These cabinetmakers scooped up chicken wire at a local hardware store, left it outside to get it a little rusty and crusty, then gave it a clear coat to make sure the crusty part was just part of the look.

Call way to do face of cabinets, both from a chicken wire perspective and the finish. Maybe we do something similar at the face of the refrigerator drawers, obviously without the wire. And on the broom closet and the regular closet we do the chicken wire and the wood finish similar to this with the appropriate colors
