Mountview Eclectic Kitchen, London

What struck us strange about this property was that it was a beautiful period piece but with the darkest and smallest kitchen considering it's size and potential. We had a quite a few constrictions on the extension but in the end we managed to provide a large bright kitchen/dinning area with direct access to a beautiful garden and keeping the 'new ' in harmony with the existing building. We also expanded a small cellar into a large and functional Laundry room with a cloakroom bathroom.

how can you get such a long overhang? I was aware caesarstone recommends no longer than a 6" unsupported overhang, after which it should be reinforced.

It's about 300mm over. No idea what that is in inches but it works. Hope that helps. It might well have a strengthening bar down the middle too. I can't remember. This was a while ago.

The hood - How do you select the right hood size. Is there a standard forumla or guidlines?

There is not a single formula for this. It depends on the style, size, location, and height of the space.

Personally I find most hoods horrendous. Most of them look like spaceships that have landed in our kitchens. So my general rule is as invisible as possible.

All hoods need to be a min. of 700mm above the Hob/Oven. The size should match the size of the hob/Oven.

Hope this is helpful.

Mirrored backsplash - Can you please elaborate about the mirrored backsplash in the kitchen? Was the antique mere purchased or was it made? Thanks in advance
