The drawers are made of 3/4 in oak plywood wrapped with a piece of hard oak (3/4 inch wide by 1 inch high) There are dovetail joints in the front and back. Please let me know if this answers your question.

Yes but how do you access them in an emergency? Do you have to pull out the washer and dryer? Thinking most people don't think they'll need to quickly access the valves which is why they're done this way.
