2. In this laundry room in Houston, designers at Brickmoon Design created a template that their trim carpenter followed to cut a cat shape on the cabinet door leading to the litter box.

This is such a cute trend — some cat owners are opting for a customized cat silhouette-shaped opening in the litter box cabinet door. Another detail worth noting here is the mat outside the opening. If you have a kitty that likes to kick up litter, it’s a good idea to put one outside the box so you don’t step on those little granules while you’re doing laundry and then spread them around the house.

For the laundry room - a built-in cabinet for the little box. Should be much bigger to accommodate an automatic litter box plus space for mat so kitty has to go to back of area to use the box and wipe feet off on pad before jumping out the door. Ideally, this opening would be pointed away from the line of sight, farthest away possible from the door's room, so cat has to walk from other side of room inside laundry room to the opening in the laundry room to get to the rest of the house, that way any litter on its feet will hopefully not get tracked into the rest of the house.
