I see that the stove hood goes all the way to the ceiling....is the crown molding on the ceiling the same as the crown molding on the cabinets? do you have a name for crown molding? Is there a corner block used to marry the two?

Green Mountain Custom Butcher Block
The island looks like Eastern Black Walnut. Given the matte appearance, it looks like a Natural Oil finish. Walnut darkens up nicely with only an oil finish (no need for stain). A Natural Oil finish is suitable for chopping on. It does require a bit of maintenance (i.e. re-oiling occasionally). This island is a great element in this kitchen. Love how the clean white is offset by the warm color of this island. Nice work.

Hello, To me it looks like Walnut. It could be teak but the light portions point to walnut. You can lean more about walnut counters at www.williamrogersco.com

The countertop is a custom piece we had done by Brakur Custom Cabinetry. It is solid walnut with an ogee edge.

Thank you, Libby. The countertop is a custom piece we had done by Brakur Custom Cabinetry. It is solid walnut with a 3" ogee edge.
