I tried to replicate by using 2 1/2" wide piece on bottom, next section is actually wall painted same color as trim and top piece is 3/4" but not as thick as bottom piece. No one that visited guessed that the middle section was actual wall.

The backsplash is tile form Sonoma Tile. It is from the Mosuprema line and the color is Tweed
