This is a butcher block top (just linear in design and not the checkerboard we are used to) and very functional for prep, etc. Direct chopping, etc., will show over time but that is part of the beauty. To seal the surface for food safety, use a pure Danish or Mineral Oil. NO wax or Linseed oil.

The cabinetry package in this house was custom so stains were mixed to match a sample provided by the design team. We used fir and oak throughout this house, I believe the kitchen was reclaimed oak. Good luck!

I do also like the strength of a natural leather barstool. They look comfortable yet elegant in this color. Not sure if these work specifically, but in concept. I'm torn between smaller comfortable and more substantial leather bar stools.
