009 - Custom Wine Cellar Irvine California Garage Conversion Project

Garage conversion to wine cellars is becoming quite popular. In this case, the cellar was built in a four-car garage. We chose one of the corners as its location and set to work. First, the wine cellar itself had to be built.

We created air-tight, insulated walls and installed an alder custom wine cellar door. Once this was complete, we installed the Redwood wine racks our client requested.

A CellarPro wine refrigeration system unit was used to cool the cellar. It was mounted within the racking.

Depicted here is the extra space in our client's garage, ultimately chosen as the location of their custom wine cellar. The area was actually more spacious than you'd expect, given that the garage was a four-car, and fairly clutter-free.

To ensure optimal wine storage and aging conditions within the residential wine cellar, we mounted a Cellar Pro wine cellar cooling unit on one of the walls. Since the type used was self-contained, it was small in size and able to be vented directly through the wall to outside.

This is Jerry, one of our wine cellar builders, standing next to a diamond bin wine rack. The purpose of this type of racking is to allow space for unusually sized wine bottles (like magnums). It also allows for storing wine and maximizes the space.

This is the stunning result of our wine cellar builders' efforts. As you can see, the redwood racking was left unfinished, for a natural look and grain. Though the space was relatively small, hundreds of wine bottles were made to fit here.

Before the custom wine cellar door was installed, the wine cellar space had to be built. Walls were put up, electricity installed, and so on. We insulated the walls and ceiling to create a perfect environment for our client's collection.

Ready to be unpacked and installed in the custom wine cellar, here are the wine racks our client chose. Though you can't tell, the material he requested them in was Redwood, a beautiful and hardy species. Redwood is also known for its high resistance to rot.
