A beautiful and spacious traditional kitchen needed an update and the clients also wanted to create a more open access to the adjacent family room. Through a relocation and widening of the entrance to the family room, which incorporated a new custom island, the two spaces remain separate, but much more integrated with a spacious 8' opening. The island becomes a transition point between the two spaces and can be used as a prep station or an entertainment area. The clients also wanted a separate area to prepare morning coffee and a custom coffee station was designed and built. All the custom pieces matched the design of the existing cabinetry and everything was painted a beautiful deep gray blue, accented with white subway tile backsplash, black and white tile floor and marble look quartz countertops. The coffee bar also features a butcher block top and undermount bar sink. This updated space creates more family space for enjoying a cup of coffee, doing homework at the island or entertaining casually with the now integrated family room space.
