Accessible Community Center
We were retained by the client to perform an accessibility assessment of the original office building which receives their guests for check-in and luncheons.
The original entry was too narrow for accessibility standards and once inside was a maze to get to the office area to check-in or to access the cafeteria and/or bathrooms. As a result we moved the front door and installed a full glass 36" wide door with a push-button operation which makes entry easy and straight forward.
Off the hallway we installed 2 doors into the office for a six foot opening so that multiple clients could be in his area at once and still be accessible. Additionally we created anew office in this area for the Director and made the door into the staff lunch room accessible by changing increasing the width.
The original bathroom was a ladies room with 2 stalls and a mens room with 1 stall and urinal. We couldn't make an accessible bathroom without losing the ability to service the number of people required so a brand new bathroom was created in the utility room and the mens room was transformed into a fully accessible bathroom with push button door and emergency support system. All bathrooms were updated and taller toilets installed.
In the cafeteria we supplied and installed custom cabinets for the servery area and had Cambria countertop installed.
The exit from the cafeteria needed work to meet accessibility standards. We raised the interior floor, repaired interior tongue and groove walls, made and installed a new exit door (red door), and installed new wood siding on the exterior.
All new flooring was installed throughout the entire building without 1 transition or change in flooring for a truly accessible space.
Lastly we created a concrete path and parking spots out front for accessible parking. This was done level with the entry door for a proper accessible entry.
