Our 15 Step Turnkey Experience:
At Adam Scougall Design, our goal is to make the design process an enjoyable one for our clients. Experience has shown us that knowledge of standard procedures helps clients feel comfortable for the duration of the project. Here’s how we work:
Project Initiation Phase
STEP 1 Consultation: with Adam Scougall
Adam will meet with you in your home for a collaborative client and designer interview. In doing so, we are mutually discovering if your project is the right fit for each other. We discuss details such as your goals for the space, your design aesthetic, how you will be using the space, what inspires you, your timeframe for completion, and your budget.
STEP 2 Design Proposal Outlining Project Scope and Estimated Design Fees
We outline the scope of work for the entire project, our design intent and goals, our design fee, the estimated timeline, and the terms and conditions. The Design Proposal is approved and once our design fee is received it signals the start of your project.
Research, Design, Presentation Phase
STEP 3 Site Measure and Planning Day
This is where we invite all the trades that will be involved in the process for a site visit to discuss the project scope and to take measurements and photos. They will each provide a written estimate outlining their scope of work and the cost for labor and/or materials. These estimates will be presented to you in the Final Presentation Meeting [Step 5].
STEP 4 Design & Documentation
This process includes execution of drawings, sourcing goods and services, procuring estimates and doing all of the ground work up front to enable a realistic budget and completed plan ready for Presentation Day.
STEP 5 Presentation Day
Here we show you working drawings, color scheme, all furnishings, fabrics and detailed budget breakdown - item by item. It will all be laid out for you so that you will be able to visualise what the finished space will look like. The budget is reviewed in detail and the required deposit is due for purchasing all materials.
Project Management Phase
STEP 6 Retainer & Order Placement
In this step, we create all purchase orders, track orders, assess lead times, note any back-orders or discontinued items that may delay the project, and make decisions whether or not to re-select. During this time, we make sure that our projected timeline is adhered to by all vendors.
STEP 7 Budget & Progress Review
We meet to review progress of the project, timing & ensuring we are on track with budget.
STEP 8 Initiation of Construction and Renovation
In this step we begin the development and construction of your project. Here is where every detail is managed to ensure a successful completion. We collaborate with builders, vendors and fabricators and make site visits as necessary.
STEP 9 Installation Period
This is where we visit & inspect custom orders [where possible] prior to delivery & install. We prefer to install these items on one session as opposed to several different deliveries.
STEP 10 Furniture Installation & Styling
This is the big step when items are installed and styled for a beautiful and inspiring finish. Installation is performed in a concentrated period of time and in one session. We typically ask our clients to leave the home at this time to prepare for our next step, the Client Reveal.
STEP 11 Client Reveal
This is the exciting moment when we take you through the finished space. We will point out & review all the features and benefits of each item, discuss how to care for each piece and any warranties available.
STEP 12 Deficiencies: identified
Any deficiencies that Adam Scougall Design have identified during the installation process [that could not be rectified prior to the Client Reveal] will be highlighted to the client. We will then advise timelines on how & when this will be rectified.
STEP 13 Deficiencies: resolved
We coordinate with the trade person, subcontractor, or vendor involved to cure any deficiencies within 14 business days.
STEP 14 Project Closure Meeting, Client Binder & Thank you
This is where we meet to close out your project. We make sure that you are fully satisfied with your new space. We also present you with our Client Binder, which houses any and all information on warrantees, product/fabric care & anything pertaining to the ongoing maintenance of your completed project.
STEP 15 Professional Photography
This is where we will schedule a professional photographer to shoot pictures of the project, which we will also share with you. If we intend to have these pictures published in a local or national publication, we will discuss that with you and determine your comfort level with personal involvement in the publication.
