After the Ice...

The house came with an sunny, unkempt field of crushed rock. Rather than redoing the entire thing, and as a nod to the owner's love of hiking, we let the existing rock enhance a vision of what the Great Ice might have left in its wake. Juxtaposed with the larger stone slabs, a Eucalyptus, and a Crape myrtle were strategically placed for future privacy. Other xeric plants included yuccas, grasses, sedums and Zauschnerias, that were tucked in between the rocks. When the garden was photographed, it was about 3 months old.
