This was a 7-week blitz project from demo to styling and probably my favorite transformation to date! The owner is nearing retirement and was ready for a major update, so I wanted to turn her home into a retreat. This was a budget-conscious renovation where every change was evaluated for what would bring the "biggest bang for the buck."

One of the most impactful changes was to remove the large dated corner fireplace to make room for a stylish wall-to-wall built-in, create symmetry, and add more space for seating.
This project also included: new white shaker trim and baseboards throughout, a lighter griege paint color that gives the public spaces a bright, airy feel, new inviting living room and dining room furniture, removal of the original carpet in the living room and bedrooms, adding more of the original oak wood flooring, and refinishing it in a classic and timeless mid-toned brown. All of the light fixtures were updated and cans were added in the living room to brighten what was once a dark and heavy space.

I designed an all-new kitchen layout that opened up the small kitchen/dining area, creating better flow and much-needed storage. Floating shelves and larder cabinets create a feature wall in the kitchen with a beautiful coastal blue backsplash. Quartz countertops and a composite sink will keep the kitchen beautiful and functional for years to come!

Another fun element of this project was that, after the first few weeks, the homeowner agreed not to return to the house to see the changes, but to wait until the end for a "big reveal" with all the rugs, lighting, furniture, and styling in place. I'd describe her reaction as "gobsmacked". :0)
