This backyard originally included a great amount of open space, but it wasn’t laid out well for entertaining. It consisted of mostly flat grass and shaded decks and patio. We reshaped it into a new design, extending the decks and patios into the sun and including curves to offer better views of the yard.

Now there is much more entertainment and relaxation space, but we still maintained a private, cozy feel. A freestanding spa is included in the design, with it appearing as though it’s built-in. Originally our homeowners requested a built-in hot tub but reconsidered their request after determining it wasn't affordable or user-friendly. Our solution tucks the hot tub behind the retaining wall and castle ledge rock disguises the hot tub and provides a pathway around it.

A new stained and stamped patio is surrounded by castle ledge rock with a stone retaining wall around it, providing some bench height seating. A lower level patio includes an entertainment and bar area with a television and an island. A range of seating options encourages people to gather here. Spiral and curved staircases lead to the upper decks where you have a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. Trex composite was chosen as the decking material because it’s low maintenance. The upper level also provides multiple areas to stand, sit or eat, with the addition of a drink rail so you can set down your beverage to engage in conversation or enjoy the views.
