Xeric landscape designed and built by Southern Landscape. This beautiful home in the hills west of Austin reduced their turf area by over 17,000 square feet, resulting in a drastic reduction in water usage. Designed specifically for seasonal beauty, the plant palette includes over 300 plantings of lantana, plumbago, Pride of Barbados, purple fountain grass, gulf muhly, and variety of yucca. To create the xeric area, over 500 linear feet of limestone retaining walls were constructed to control drainage and limit erosion on the hillside site. Now complete, this xeric area is a unique and attractive solution to Austin's ever-growing water challenges.
