Beach House
This is more than our clients’ vacation home – it was built with the intention of being their “legacy” home. Every detail is highly customized to their familial needs and tastes, with the intent to pass the home on to their grown children. Melanie previously worked with the clients on their full-time home in California, but the design direction they wanted to take for their Nantucket home was quite different, not to mention refreshingly unexpected for a beach home! They were clear on one rule – no anchors, rope knots, lobsters, or other stereotypical references to Northeastern coastal life. You will see only small and subtle nods to coastal life – a rope detail on the legs of the master bed that Melanie designed; a hand-carved antique whale chest incorporated into the kitchen design, a family heirloom; an old ship sconce in the mudroom. We helped our clients uncover and stay focused on their unique design style - Mid-century-inspired casual elegance with nods to rustic early-America - and turned their long dreamed-of ideas and visions for their legacy home into the best possible finished look.
