These hanging cabinets were cutting the light into this room, and made the eating area appear very ‘cut off’ from the rest of the kitchen.

The fireplace and flooring in the living room, along with a coat of Sherwin Williams ‘Agreeable Grey’ made a big difference in the space. The face of the fireplace is gorgeous ‘bowtie marble’ and makes an impact.

We tried a new epoxy ‘granite look’ finish on the counters, but you’ll see we changed that later. NOT what we had in mind. The cabinets are gone and the kitchen appears much bigger. A new light fixture and voila!

We painted the upper cabinets white, and lowers were two shades darker than the walls to give a more modern feel. Again, the counter tops didn’t stay ‘granite’ for long. The finish, despite following all the instructions, looked more like a sponge paint faux finish. Disappointing.

So much more open. The only thing we didn’t touch in here was the laminate flooring.
