Kitchen cabinets don't have to all be one color! The open cabinets above were painted red to match the red range and red paint that was used in the dinning room. With the red backgrounds on the upper cabinets, it creates the look of a painted wall but gives you extra space for storage. The island has an open bookshelf for cookbooks and magazines. Outlets can be added onto the island to plug in your electronics when you are doing work at home.
