Most of the time kitchens are perfectly square and have support beams and posts right in the way of where the design is going to be laid out. With custom cabinetry that's never an issue! With this kitchen the structural post is smack dab in the middle of where the island needs to go. We built the cabinets to the island around the post giving it a unique shape to fit the curve of the kitchen itself. With the island angled the way it is, the walk zone around the room is an easy flow with no corner to bump.
