Bold Move

This couple has a beautiful, sophisticated home with many substantial architectural details. They are an active family with four young children and a love for color and contemporary art. We strove to keep the air of quality while creating an atmosphere appropriate to the high spirits and interests of this young family.

Despite the seriousness of the deep moldings, wainscoting, inlaid detail on floor and the trim detail on the ceiling, we kept the room young and fun through the use of tailored window treatments, sisal carpets and a lively color scheme of greens, purples and creams.

This modern interpretation of a wing chair is from Hickory Chair. The end tables are made of faux bone. The lamp is hand blown glass.

Olive and spring greens are mixed for a lively contrast. The contemporary art was chosen by the client.

Silver and cream toned furnishings float in a luxurious wrap of dramatic dark gray lacquered walls. The bedside tables are from Hickory Chair. Purple accents in the bedding and throw provide just enough of a pop of color.

French abstract watercolor nudes hang over the fireplace. The sconces are from Robert Abbey. The mirrored etagere is reflected in the high gloss walls.

A large, comfortable chaise beckons from a corner. The mirrored small chest continues the reflective theme of the etagere and shiny walls. The window treatment fabric is a lined sheer shot through with horizontal silver metallic stripes.
