Brackenhurst
PAD gained permission for this new contemporary eco-home in July 2011. We have been working with Brilliant Futures to ensure that the house is PassivHaus compliant and PHPP modelling has been carried out for the pre-construction phase. The new home is also CSH Level 5. This is the first PassivHaus home within the New Forest & Hampshire to achieve pre-construction compliance.
A natural lime rendered wrapping garden wall with floating roof above sits humbly within the Forest setting and roots the building to its site. The wrapping wall is eroded to the south to enable connection with the garden, lots of beneficial solar gain and windows that read as punched holes within the walls. Local materials were sourced for use throughout, and the house was built using local craftsmen and labour. The clients lived on site throughout construction and helped with the build. They moved into the house in December 2012.
