Brewster Beach House

Client wanted a 'box to sleep in by the beach' - an easy-in, easy-out vacation home. Owner waited 20 years to find a lot for sale along this particular stretch of Brewster beach. The place is crafted to bring college-aged kids and family together in a cozy, common, easily inhabited space. Space is used communally - outdoor decks, open floorplan kitchen-living-dining, and roofdeck overlooking the beach. The landscape design is similar to the energy efficient house, with low maintenance drought-tolerant plants in a low maintenance and highly-durable design. The site design removed a pre-existing structure and placed the new house back from the shoreline, introduced bank stabilization and removed invasive and non-native plants from the dune area for a healthier long term strategy. The interior design is meant to be serene and clean; much furniture is off-the shelf and affordable for easy care and replacement, with a few key designer or custom pieces.
