Brier Cottage was a total restoration of a 1920's English tudor built and originally designed by the architect, Hollis Johnson in 1923.
The house was in a state of extreme decay and it was a major design and restoration project that took approximately six months.
The home was retained by the original family and I was only the second owner in over 9 years.
All the design and construction was done By Benjamin Silver for Benjamin silver design.
At completion the house was furnished and marketed, it sold in one day over the vendor price.
This house was NOT a "FLIP", I always take great personal offense to people calling my work like this a flip. A Flip refers to a simple fluff of a house that is immediately re marketed with a bit of paint and maybe some tile etc. at very little expense and very quickly and often badly.
This Project was a total restoration, demolition of the entire interior structure allowed for all new wiring, plumbing, foundation repairs, sheet rock and insulation, re design of the entire interior including a family room and master suite, no expense was spared to put in high end cabinetry, and finishes, vintage lighting and much more. much of the furniture was chosen by Benjamin silver Design form Cargo antiques In Portland's Pearl district, who loaned most of the pieces for the presentation and reveal.
