Cabin with Personality
This 1920s log cottage on North Lake, near Chelsea, is beautifully nestled into its surroundings. Despite its idyllic setting, the interior of the home was dark and its layout was not conducive to year-round living. The designers at Riemco worked carefully with the owners to delicately expand the primary suite and add a functional entryway.
The challenge was to not disturb the storybook character of the house and make the addition seamless with the existing structure. For only adding about 150 square feet of new space, the owners gained an incredible amount of functionality. The first floor bathroom and primary bedroom were rearranged to be more comfortable and inviting. In the living area, new skylights and lighting brought vibrance to the space, and the colorful cabinets provided some variation from the original wood floors and log walls.
