Every project has a move. This one was about 100 square feet.

Our clients had a kitchen that felt tight for a family of five, paired with a courtyard that wasn’t pulling its weight. By reclaiming a small portion of the courtyard, we were able to expand the kitchen, create a true dining space, and completely transform how the home functions.

And here’s the kicker. Even though the courtyard got smaller, it feels significantly larger. With the addition of a covered structure, a fully functioning outdoor kitchen, and a direct connection back to the interior, it finally has purpose and gets used.

An accordion window links the kitchen and courtyard, allowing the two spaces to open up to each other or operate independently for everyday life.

Inside, we leaned into a happy, quietly colorful palette with soft blues and greens, warm woods, and layered materials that reflect the rest of the home.

A small shift. A major impact. Two spaces that now work better than either ever did on their own.
