Carderock

This mid-century modern house sits on a picturesque wooded site within a development of similar homes. The Owners desired an updated and larger kitchen with an improved spatial connection to the living and dining areas, and a larger master bedroom suite. KUBE's solution was to add 8' along the back of the house for its entire length. The new kitchen was placed within this space, and the previously enclosed kitchen "box" removed, allowing the living/dining space to became much more open from front to back. To enhance the connection to the exterior, larger fixed glass panels were added in the front of the house, while the kitchen cabinets are surrounded by glass, revealing views of the woods in every direction. The cabinetry is custom walnut with white CaesarStone counter tops. The master bathroom was re-designed to include a shower/bath "room" in the 8' rear addition, with a full-height frosted glass panel facing the rear yard. Finally the master bedroom was enlarged in the rear as well, and full-height glass was installed, creating a peaceful sitting area surrounded by trees.
