Rosedale is a new 6000 sf residence on the last available site adjacent to the historic Rosedale Conservancy, located in Cleveland Park in northwest DC. The theme of the house is a “modern barn” which recalls the pastoral history of the site and adjacent farmhouse, one of the oldest residences in DC. The house is a minimal modern structure, composed of two equal volumes offset in order to break down the scale to relate more successfully to the surrounding context. Materials include stucco, wood panels, and standing seam metal roof, creating a look that is upscale but also warm and inviting. The landscape is being designed by Campion Hruby Landscape Architects, and includes a pool, terraces, and retains much of the original open landscape of the site.
